Frisco GP-35? #477 (and a couple of GP-7's) at Augusta,Ks - May 1977.

This train was westbound ,working a plant at Augusta, Kansas (21 miles east of Wichita) on the Wichita - Columbus Frisco branch.
This line is abandoned today.

Frisco GP-7 #627 on westbound freight at Augusta,Ks - Dec 1977.

The interlocking signal is clear for the westbound Frisco freight to cross the Wellington-El Dorado Santa Fe line at AG tower in Augusta.
This is on the now abandoned Frisco line to Wichita (about 21 miles away) where the train will terminate.

I talked my way in the cab for a short ride around town on the Frisco local that was doing some work around town. This is looking west toward Wichita on the now abandoned Frisco branch.

Looking east on the Frisco Wichita-Beaumont branch at Augusta,Ks - June 1977.

Quite a few differences here - the line is abandoned but some of the track remains. Most of the trees are gone along with the siding on the left.
This is looking east towards the Santa Fe crossing at AG Tower.

Frisco freight at Augusta,Kansas station -- June 1978.

A trio of GP-7 work on the Wichita - Beaumont line just west of the Santa Fe crossing at AG tower.
The station survives today with a private business inside.
The Frisco line has been dormant for quite a few years with the main track existing (barely) and most of the side tracks gone.

Frisco engines at Birmingham

With the northbound Amtrak Crescent at the ex-L&N Station a freight with Frisco engines(running on the L&N) with GP40-2 #757 passes by.
The privately owned car on the right was ex-NYC Inperial Emblem.
Built by Pullman-Standard in 1940 with 4 compartments 4 double bedrooms and 2 drawing rooms -- sold to Illinois Central in 1962.
