Looking south on the Santa Fe Ft.Worth-Galveston\Houston line, #220 is doing some interchange work (the MKT line is just behind me). On the bottom right can be seen bricks from the platform and part of the foundation of the long gone station. The second unit #230 - was one of the few MKT "red" units left. Sealy is about 50 miles west of Houston.

While waiting for the Sunset Limited on the SP Sunset Route (double tracks in the foreground) a westbound Katy freight was leaving Eureka Yard with a rare unit still in red. #173 was part of a group of 12 units (all GP-40) purchased in 1966 - the first new engines aquired by the MKT in 9 years (#196 was part of the second order in 1967).

The Houston section of the InterAmerican is being rerouted on the MKT to Temple about 15 miles west of Houston. The B unit was one of only two the Katy had.
I-10 expansion construction has taken over this area. This section of the Katy was taken out about 10 years ago.

A couple of CNW and one MKT SD40-2 engines are westbound on the MKT between Houston and Katy. The rest of the train can be seen in the background coming off the spur to the Western Electric plant (now the Academy warehouse). This track is long gone (both main and spur) but the spur grade can be found here and there.
