Riding Mountain Park was built in 1954 by Budd for the Canadian. A dome Obs. bar lounge with 3 bedrooms and a drawing room. The car now resides in Blissfield, Michigan, on the property of the Adrian and Blissfield RR. Plan is to upgrade for dinner train private parties and then upgrade mechaicals for riding behind Amtrak (thanks to "flatwheel" on Trainorders for the info). December 1982

The Emerald was an ex-CN 4 section-8 duplex roomette-4 bedroom car built by Pullman-Standard in 1954. I occupied one of the roomettes. Unlike Amtrak which didn't sell sections as sleeper space (on the few cars that had them), VIA did sell them as they were intended, had quite a few cars with sections and from my observations they were very popular. The combined consist is on the right. The Canadian had arrived 1-2 hours earlier and long station stops were the norm during this time period.
